Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve to you and yours! This month really has flown by, and we've been traveling almost every weekend. I'm sad to say that we probably won't get to go see any ice sculptures or anything festive at the Gaylord this year, but we've decorated, and hung up lights and dollar tree stockings! Alas, still haven't had any one over yet, but it's been a busy Holiday Season and there is always next year ;)

Two weekends ago we were in Baltimore to see the annual Army/Navy game, and since it's was Mallory's last year at the Academy, I was glad that Robert was able to see the tradition and the uniformity of each group. Alas, Navy still squeaked by for the win, but it was pretty cool just being there and seeing the rivalry play out (even though those pesky Midshipmen were rude during Army's march in at the beginning). We also got to spend a little bit walking around Washington DC and doing some sight seeing around there despite frigid temps (mainly wind chill) and having a super early morning to fly up. It took us forever to find an access road to the White House since the police kept blocking off the roads to get there. Apparently someone worth using a police escort was getting ready to leave, and needed like an hour's worth of traffic blockage before finally making a departure (which we didn't even see because we were hungry and impatient). They also have black squirrels! Which were so cute, and you knew they were used to seeing people because they all came up to you expecting food. The Lincoln Memorial was really quite a scene also. I'm glad we made it there in the time we had, and the view looking out across the Reflecting Pool to see the Washington Monument across the way. Had a flash back of Forrest Gump running out in the water to see his Jennay also :) You'd definitely need a full day to get around to see everything, since it's so spread out. We saw the Jefferson Memorial from a distance, and squinted to see the Vietnam Memorial Wall also as we were high tailing it back to the train station on the other side of the Monument to meet back up with my parents, who spent their time at the Arlington Cemetery across the river in Virginia.

Navy on the left in black, Army on the right in blue

I always love seeing the Apaches fly over the stadium, and since our seats were high this year, they were RIGHT there! Also neat to know that one of Mallory's teammates is in the front seat of the last helicopter on the right.

This past weekend we spent at the deer lease, but alas did not see any deer of any sorts. I think they hibernate during the winter-that's what I would do! We were still festive though and permanently smell like camp fire :)

In conclusion, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Holiday and get to spend it with those you love most! I'll be at my parent's for our traditional Christmas Eve taco dinner and opening of presents, and then will head out to Robert's Grandma's house to spend the Eve with his family. Christmas Day means 8 hours of driving to Mississippi to see my part of the fam for a few days-fun! I'll leave you with some little gems I found to be festive! (no judging allowed-k?)

I mean check out my gremlin face. I sure get at it!

Remember when turtle necks were cool? Yea me neither :)

I mean it doesn't get much better than that!

Merry Christmas to all!

Hair today, gone tomorrow!

Well. I did it. Took the plunge. Jumped off the band wagon. And I feel....about 8-9 inches lighter!  And the not so pretty before photo (just looked at all that fried straw!):  #shorthairdontcare

Wedding Invites: DIY

During my wedding planning, one of the things that I was most "sticker shocked" on was how much wedding invitations cost! I looked everywhere (and I'm talking everywhere: Etsy, Michaels, Target, Pinterest, any online shop, etc.) for ones that I liked that were cute, not too elaborate, and at a reasonable price (meaning not $300-600). I mean, it's a sheet of paper, envelope, stamp, and RSVP basically. It wasn't until I found this DIY that I finally had a possibility for what we were wanting to use for our invites, and I think they turned out great (for a DIY).  2 Invites could be made from 1 sheet of paper. I printed the actual invite on Vellum paper, and then put it over the card stock.  Here's what you need:  FREE Template 1 pack of 100 sheet Card Stock Paper-I got mine from Michaels because it was shimmery but not too blingy 1 pack of white vellum paper (I got mine at Staples) Ribbon in color of your choice Hole Puncher Scissors Half

Winter is Coming..so is a Wedding!

Burrrr! Today is a balmy 40 degrees outside-and I'm definitely not ready for it despite my scarf-wearing, boot shopping fashion choices since September, hoping to "force" Fall to actually happening, but now that it's here: go away! Or at least just get a liiiitle bit warmer, so I can still have fun in my dozens of scarves and boots, but not freeze my ass off. Ka-peesh? My parents like to kindly remind me of what's to come in December, since we are going to the Army-Navy football game in Baltimore. Last year in Philly was just awful (and by awful I mean freezing, rainy, icy, cold, hungry, wet, sweaty, repeat) but a blasty blast being in a new city and living through new memories being made.  Any hoo-Even though I'm not snuggled up at home on this festive Veteran's Day (thank you to everyone who has served!), warm in my bed, I still wanted to touch on some wedding related topics: vendors. This could also be fun to read AFTER the wedding in April, to loo
