Wedding Invites: DIY

During my wedding planning, one of the things that I was most "sticker shocked" on was how much wedding invitations cost! I looked everywhere (and I'm talking everywhere: Etsy, Michaels, Target, Pinterest, any online shop, etc.) for ones that I liked that were cute, not too elaborate, and at a reasonable price (meaning not $300-600). I mean, it's a sheet of paper, envelope, stamp, and RSVP basically. It wasn't until I found this DIY that I finally had a possibility for what we were wanting to use for our invites, and I think they turned out great (for a DIY).  2 Invites could be made from 1 sheet of paper. I printed the actual invite on Vellum paper, and then put it over the card stock.  Here's what you need:  FREE Template 1 pack of 100 sheet Card Stock Paper-I got mine from Michaels because it was shimmery but not too blingy 1 pack of white vellum paper (I got mine at Staples) Ribbon in color of your choice Hole Puncher Scissors Half

A Day for Fathers

In light of recent events (aka Father's Day), I thought it would be appropriate to dedicate a whole post to the one I get to call "Dad" all day err day!  We really wouldn't be here if it weren't for Fathers. Literally-they are half of each and every one of us, and before I get old and gray and forget these things. I'd like to remember some of my fondest memories with me own Da. (Outlander's got me talkin' a wee bit Scottish, too).  As I grow older, it's harder and harder to not forget specific memories, especially the one's through my eyes of youth. So mainly, this post is for me and my own self to look back on and smile. I remember the very first time that my dad taught me to ride my bike without training wheels. I think I was about Kindergarten age, and it was on the side of the house I grew up in, and I had my pink Barbie bike. I don't remember it taking too long to get the hang of it, but stopping was a different story (mor

House Bucket List: Summer 2015

Schoooooool's out. For. The summmmmerrrr!!  (sung like Alice Cooper, of course) Which is completely irrelevant to my life, but I feel like "summer break" should be an excuse to get some things done around the house that have been on the back burner since this little thing called a "wedding" was the main focus for the past year and a half. We've almost been in our new house for a year now come September, and besides our basic furniture and a few DIYs, the walls are still empty, and we don't have really anything going on in our guest bedroom (besides a bed-baby steps here!), or our study (looks strangely empty without all of our wedding crap!). I'm ready to organize, then re-organize, and organize some more! Thank goodness for my handy dandy pinterest board to keep all of my ideas for me. Trying to actually make use of it, instead of just thinking of it. Actions speak louder than pins, am I right?!  So far, only little touches have been adde

Quinoa & Brown Rice Jambalaya Dinner

So I kind of sort of made up my own dinner recipe the other night-and it was muy deliciosa ! I won't take full credit, since the basis of it came from a box, but what I added it to customize and make our own I'm pretty proud of and stoked that it came out so yummy.  Has anyone heard of Quinoa? For the longest time, I had heard of this mystery product, but always thought that it was pronounced Kwin-o-uh, you know, like it's spelled? Finally I learned the truth and have been a bit annoying about saying it the correct way (Keeeen-wah)! I knew from the things I've heard that this was a healthier option-protein rich and high in fiber (which helps you feel fuller, longer, and helps with digesting). It's also gluten free, and cooks a lot faster than your normal rice would. I think it's considered a "super food" because it has all of these amazing health benefits without the high calories and without any gluten, plus all of the amino acids. Anyway, I

Weekend in Photos

Techinically, back in those ol college days, Thursday night started off the weekend (thanks for no class on Fridays!), in which I'm applying the same concept here. Wishful longing? So! Thursday we took our happy selves to the Ranger's game at the Ballpark in Arlington (it will always be the ballpark to me no matter what it's really called). Tostitos sponsors all of the chips there, so we had some bomb.com nachos while we were waiting. So so so good. Not to mention we seat hopped several times. Started out in the Jack Daniels Club, moved to our real seats, moved to a friends seat in the outfield, and then the Captain Morgan club.  Friday we took ourselves to the lake, and even though we weren't staying at our normal spot, the sunset is always a looker. <3 And they had horses! How they put up with all the racket there, I don't understand, but they were still really cool! The place we stayed at was hosting a Noodling Tournament, and the

Wedding Pics: Sneak Peek Edition

Yayyyy!!! We finally got our "sneak peaks" for some of our wedding photos! Basically, it's the whole night in a nut shell, and I'll get the whole package of photos later this summer. Can't wait to see them all, and even though it's been almost 2 months of marriage (!!!), these photos take me back. I'm not going to be one of those bloggers who post a ridiculous amount of photos, because really-who has time to scroll scroll scroll, but bear with me here for the 30 or so that we have as a short timeline of everything that's happened <3  April 11, 2015   All photos courtesy of Lisa Cavet of LG Photos (lgphotos.net) Thank you, thank you (again and again) for not only all of our wonderful vendors, but also for our awesome friends and family that made this night super special!
