Happy Birthday Rico!

Exactly 4 months ago, on a hot September 3rd morning, I was at the end of my block finishing a quick run before some UNT tailgating when a little doggy sprinted across the street and proceeded to run up behind me. Stopping at the corner, I turned around to greet the little thing and to see what I could do about finding where he came from. No one was outside, he didn't have a collar on, and he was too cute to ignore. As I caught my breath and tried to figure out what to do next, he was perfectly fine with just stretching out next to me and relaxing.                           my first rescue attempt //  th e moment we first met Fortunately, he was small enough where I could hold onto him and go house to house down the entire street to see if anyone had been missing him. Sadly no one seemed to be missing a clearly taken care of puppy who was already house/potty trained and already had a couple of tricks up hi...

Feeling Lucky!

Happy Monday, y'all! Just kidding, there's never really anything happy about a Monday. Especially after a weekend at the casino-which is how we spent ours. We are fortunate to have friends that actually want to celebrate such a milestone as turning  the big 3-0, and what better way to celebrate than letting the chips fall where they may (hoping it's on 13 Black or 5 Red) and hitting the jackpot!  I'm talking Shreveport y'all-a short hop, skip, and a jump out of town right on the Red River. Where the casino never sleeps, the smoke never clears, and the drinks never stop. I'm not much of a gambler myself, but with a great group of friends it was a blast! I was able to enjoy other people winning without losing a buck myself! Win win if you ask me. Throw in a 3 hour private room dinner (ooo we fancy), several hilarious unexpected snap chats (not mine since I'm old and don't understand snap chat), and a chocolate birthday cake and I'm all set!  ...

I have a 24 year old sister!

Happiest of Birthdays to my 24 year old!! 24?? Wasn't I just 24, like a year ago?!!!! It wasn't too long ago that I was yelling "eat it! eat it!" during a shielding drill at soccer practice our senior/freshman year of high school, as I sprint tackled my sister and was forcing her face to the turf-all in good fun I promise. Or that she was giving the Maid of Honor speech at my wedding, referencing said "eat it" example. Remember that time when I couldn't stand you because you wanted to wear all of my clothes, be friends with all of my friends, and like the same guys I liked? Not to mention being in half of my classes all year because you just had to do the same electives and athletics that I did? What were we thinking!!? I missed out on many years because of my constant companion, but I would go through all of that all over again to get to where we are today! My best friend! My sister from the same mister!  My proudest accomplishment, because-and let...

I'm walking on (in) sunshineeee!

Literally. Friday Fair-days. Saturday Six Flags. A summery-end to whirlwind of a birthday/first day of fall week. All of my most favorite things, all together. <3.  First of all , I would like to thank everyone who took the time to wish me a happy birthday. I was pretty apprehensive going into this one, but it's not bad. Not bad at all!! Besides, age really is just a number, right?  For my birthday, all I really wanted was to go back to the Bahamas. Hence my background.  Secondly, hallelujah for FALL. My (middle) name sake (not Fall, but Autumn. Same diff) My jam . ME. I love the smell of the weather cooling off in the mornings. And the slight cool snips that we are getting in the breeze that is only confirming that summer is indeed, ending. I really want to organize my closet and bring all the goodie warm clothes out to the front, but I would look pretty silly trying to wear boots and a sweater when it's still 95 degrees out....

27 Things for 27 Years

In celebration of my turning yet another year old, it takes a lot to make up the weirdo that I am today!   1. I love looking at maps. I used to spend the whole flight looking at the back of the American Way magazine at all of the maps of the world they had there. If I've been traveling recently, I'll look up the map when I get home and just look for all the things I've seen. I don't know what it is-ever since I was a little girl I loved reading and studying maps. Maybe that's why I'm so good at directions, eh? ;) 2. I really can't stand when sharp ended object (pens, pencils, knives, the like) point me directly in the eye. It physically makes me cringe! Used to be a "fun" game at the lunch table for my friends...;)  3. If I could have any talent in the world, it would be the ability to sing and belt notes and songs out like Carrie Underwood or Christina Aguilera. Those girls can sang . 4. I love crunchy foods. There is just something so sa...

Step by Step Corn Hole!

Husband + Birthday = Corn Hole Boards. UNT (to be) corn hole boards, to be exact.  Friend makes boards + Dani paints boards = Birthday Gift Tailgating + UNT = Green&White&Black What other math equations can I think of?  Step 0 : Spend time in Home Depot during lunch buying supplies only to get home and it's the wrong shade of green. #winning Step 1: Spend 2 whole lunch hours figuring out this tape situation, getting it straight and even, only to end up taking them off because painting a black stripe first is the way to go.        St ep 2A: Add in a doggy helper who was great at holding tape for me and watching the outside for strangers. Good lookin' out, Kiefy. Step 3: Move boards inside because it's too dang hot to do anything outside. Also lay down new tape, because it's fun! And let the colors begin. Step 2A + Step 3 = proceed to Step 4 Step 4: GREEN! Mean Green. Grrrr ...
