Christmas Part 1, Texas!

Whew, what a whirlwind of events! The build up from October into Thanksgiving and finally onto Christmas always seems to sneak up on us and blink twice and it's over! Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and remembered the reason for the season. One of my favorite things is seeing how full the bottom of our tree looks and then in one swipe it all be gone because giving gifts is so much fun the older you get. An empty tree at the end of the day is how I like to see it, even if it does look a little lonely. We spent the days leading up to Christmas getting caught up with Star Wars (or in Robert's case, getting educated), and enjoying the last tidbits of our tree as he also gets a little work done.

Our tradition as a family was always to open our Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve, and then wake up Christmas morning and pack into the cars for an 8 hour road trip to Mississippi, where both of my parents hail from. Mississippi State or Ole Miss is always the first question wherever we go. My family is split, so best pick wisely based on who you're talking to! ;) Crazily enough, Robert's family also gathers on Christmas Eve, so for the past 6 or so years it's been a little hectic to make the rounds, but also fun at the same time to see all the chaos that a big family gathering brings, since our family shenanigans don't occur until we get to Mississippi.

OH-How could I forget? Can I just talk about how gross and un-Christmas like the weather was? I pretty much could wear shorts, and by the time we got out of state it was humid and foggy and not 'tis the season one bit! I was also shocked and super sad from the storms/tornado that ripped through the area on the day after Christmas, and am so glad to know that both family and friends were all okay, even if their homes weren't. Seeing the videos and pictures of the tornado was so scary-like a scene right out of Twister! Crazy times, El Niño. A little wake up call to cherish all the time you have when you see people who are important! All I want for Christmas this year (2015) is for everyone to find and claim all of the found/missing animals that I see posted. Tugs at my heart strings, animals do. Do your magic, Santa!

In conclusion (do people still say that?), this Christmas was one for the books! Not only was it our first "official" Christmas as husband and wife, but also was a bit unusual having all 4 seasons in the span of a few days. Leading up it was sunny as can be and a little warm, followed by crazy spring tornado weather, followed by a blizzard (?!?!) with snow and ice (thank goodness I wasn't actually in the state at this point), and now we are back to normal "cooler" weather, with no sign of any of the previously mentioned. I see you, Texas! Already looking forward to the next one :)

Highlight of the night was the onesies that we received. I'd been talking about getting one all year because our house is so cold, and Robert is just as cool as me so he gets one too! <3

Hair today, gone tomorrow!

Well. I did it. Took the plunge. Jumped off the band wagon. And I feel....about 8-9 inches lighter!  And the not so pretty before photo (just looked at all that fried straw!):  #shorthairdontcare

Wedding Invites: DIY

During my wedding planning, one of the things that I was most "sticker shocked" on was how much wedding invitations cost! I looked everywhere (and I'm talking everywhere: Etsy, Michaels, Target, Pinterest, any online shop, etc.) for ones that I liked that were cute, not too elaborate, and at a reasonable price (meaning not $300-600). I mean, it's a sheet of paper, envelope, stamp, and RSVP basically. It wasn't until I found this DIY that I finally had a possibility for what we were wanting to use for our invites, and I think they turned out great (for a DIY).  2 Invites could be made from 1 sheet of paper. I printed the actual invite on Vellum paper, and then put it over the card stock.  Here's what you need:  FREE Template 1 pack of 100 sheet Card Stock Paper-I got mine from Michaels because it was shimmery but not too blingy 1 pack of white vellum paper (I got mine at Staples) Ribbon in color of your choice Hole Puncher Scissors Half

Winter is Coming..so is a Wedding!

Burrrr! Today is a balmy 40 degrees outside-and I'm definitely not ready for it despite my scarf-wearing, boot shopping fashion choices since September, hoping to "force" Fall to actually happening, but now that it's here: go away! Or at least just get a liiiitle bit warmer, so I can still have fun in my dozens of scarves and boots, but not freeze my ass off. Ka-peesh? My parents like to kindly remind me of what's to come in December, since we are going to the Army-Navy football game in Baltimore. Last year in Philly was just awful (and by awful I mean freezing, rainy, icy, cold, hungry, wet, sweaty, repeat) but a blasty blast being in a new city and living through new memories being made.  Any hoo-Even though I'm not snuggled up at home on this festive Veteran's Day (thank you to everyone who has served!), warm in my bed, I still wanted to touch on some wedding related topics: vendors. This could also be fun to read AFTER the wedding in April, to loo
