Water Wars Week 4: Challenge Complete!

Woo! I've finally completed my water challenge, and I'm proud to say that I actually participated and put forth the effort every single day, with the exception of some Saturdays and this past weekend when I was sick (trying to drink all that water repulsed me and I could not do it on Sunday or Monday), and I'm glad that I found a healthy habit to drink into and instill in my every day life!

Here's what I learned (for myself):

-My expectations should not be what anyone else's expectations or results are. I was intrigued at first from the original article that I read about all of the benefits that this lady saw as she went through this challenge. However, as I soon saw after I started-my "changes" didn't come as soon or as obvious that hers did. I also was probably (okay I know I AM) in a lot better shape then she was, skin wise and health wise. Plus she had some years on me (and I say that in the nicest way possible). I wasn't doing this to lose weight (like she saw happen), but merely just to see any positive side effects of getting enough H2O each day to see overall health benefits.

-With that being said, having a realistic goal is key. Not everyone is going to have the same results, and it's really a personal battle on whether or not you complete this. I have 2 full 750ml (or roughly 25 ounce) water bottles in my eye sight at all times. A gallon is 128 ounces, so I was drinking the 2 full water bottles, and then maybe another one all before lunch. Then do the same thing after lunch. Once they are done, I immediately go for a refill, so it's about maintenance also and knowing what you need to do to meet the goal.

-Drinking enough water each day DOES have some natural benefits-like clearer and smoother skin and I also noticed that I had more energy throughout the day and wasn't struggling in the afternoon after lunch.

-The longer I continued drinking this much each day, the easier it became to drink so much water. I was finishing my allotted amount in the mornings way before lunch, so I would drink even more. In the last couple of weeks I craved the water and felt weird when I knew I wasn't drinking enough. It's basically the same principal for anything-getting started is the worst part and the first few days are hard, but you learn and adjust as you go until it becomes a habit and a part of your routine.

Overall I'm going to continue to drink this amount because I want to. And I like to. And it feels too weird not to. Wa-Bam!

Hair today, gone tomorrow!

Well. I did it. Took the plunge. Jumped off the band wagon. And I feel....about 8-9 inches lighter!  And the not so pretty before photo (just looked at all that fried straw!):  #shorthairdontcare

Wedding Invites: DIY

During my wedding planning, one of the things that I was most "sticker shocked" on was how much wedding invitations cost! I looked everywhere (and I'm talking everywhere: Etsy, Michaels, Target, Pinterest, any online shop, etc.) for ones that I liked that were cute, not too elaborate, and at a reasonable price (meaning not $300-600). I mean, it's a sheet of paper, envelope, stamp, and RSVP basically. It wasn't until I found this DIY that I finally had a possibility for what we were wanting to use for our invites, and I think they turned out great (for a DIY).  2 Invites could be made from 1 sheet of paper. I printed the actual invite on Vellum paper, and then put it over the card stock.  Here's what you need:  FREE Template 1 pack of 100 sheet Card Stock Paper-I got mine from Michaels because it was shimmery but not too blingy 1 pack of white vellum paper (I got mine at Staples) Ribbon in color of your choice Hole Puncher Scissors Half ...

To cut, or not to cut...that is my question!

More like a dilemma. I've done it before, and I've grown it back out, so I can do it again-right? I feel like everyone has short hair these days (I currently have the longest hair on my team at work!) , and all I wanted when I had short hair was to have long hair again. Now that it's long (and gross and fried and ick at the ends) I want to go short. But then I have an awesome long-haired day and think I want to keep it long. Do you see my problem here? Summer is coming, so it's going to be up in a pony tail or bun most days, so that just seems like such a waste of hair. But I sweat a lot and since summer is hot, wearing it in it's intended short style probably wouldn't last.  What is a girl to do?!
