Life's Little Lately's

With life happening so fast, it's hard to keep up with what we've been doing the past few weeks. Sometime you just have to stop and smell the... ...afternoon root beer floats that are courtesy of the leftover ice cream in the break room freezer, and the free root beers in the vending machine. Score! ...little baby sunflower plant that husband bought for me to "care" for that has begun to sprout! ...Cinco de Mayo doggy sombrero. ...name change. Practice makes perfect, right? ...a little bit of signage that I've been doing. Congrats are in order both one marriage and one engagement!   [[favorite sign!]] ...freshly planted flowers + new mulch that husband put in because he can't sit still long enough for anyone ELSE (named 'wifey') to plant herself ...impromptu trip to the Lonestar Race Track in Grand Prairie. Not sure how I felt about the actual horse racing (don't those whips hurt?!), but gosh the horses were ...

Post Wedding rememberances. Is that a word?

Now that we are Month 1 post wedding, things have settled back into our normal routine, sans a wedding to-do list. I sort of just sat and stared for a moment yesterday, just thinking to myself that I could.not.believe that it's been over 30 days, 1 whole month, 1/12 of an entire year that we have been legally donned Mr. and Mrs. And we haven't even done anything! Well...except go to The Bahamas for a week, followed by Fiesta in San Antonio for the weekend, and then this and then that and oh! Here we are. Time flies when you're having fun, eh? But! There are so many new things to look forward too also. Summer is upon us, so that means re-visiting our lake site (which hopefully has water now which meannnsss that we will spend our time ON the water this year, instead of just staring at how low the lake looks). One of my friends graduates from law school this weekend, and then moving to Austin (juuuust in time for her Bachelorette party next month!). My sister graduates from...

SIL is edumacated!

Shout out to my newly graduated sister-in-law Priscilla on her commencement day for her MBA! Way to kick off Mother's Day weekend with a bang! I met young, quiet Priscilla the first year that Robert and I were together, and have seen her graduate high school a year early (2010), then go on to graduate with an Associate's Degree, then switch major's a few times until one finally stuck and she STILL graduated college a year early in 2013 with her Bachelor's. Now she's loud and giggly and add a Master's Degree to the mix and girl, you are way more in love with school than everyone I know put together. Now quit studying and let's have some fun!  Friday started off with me being able to sleep in until 7 am (yes I consider that sleeping in based on the fact that I was getting to work AT 7 am the previous 4 days), and working on my posture (crowded bleachers and knees in my back for 2 hours = a straight back and square shoulders!). The speeches weren't too ba...

To cut, or not to cut...that is my question!

More like a dilemma. I've done it before, and I've grown it back out, so I can do it again-right? I feel like everyone has short hair these days (I currently have the longest hair on my team at work!) , and all I wanted when I had short hair was to have long hair again. Now that it's long (and gross and fried and ick at the ends) I want to go short. But then I have an awesome long-haired day and think I want to keep it long. Do you see my problem here? Summer is coming, so it's going to be up in a pony tail or bun most days, so that just seems like such a waste of hair. But I sweat a lot and since summer is hot, wearing it in it's intended short style probably wouldn't last.  What is a girl to do?!

Patio Light Dream

This past weekend we finally got around to putting up some lights on our newly stained arbor (thanks, husband!), and we were able to enjoy some twinkling lights in the darkest parts of the night (3 am anyone?). I think it's also the first time since we've moved in that I actually sat outside on our patio, on our new patio furniture (that really is at least 7 months old but we haven't ever used it so I still count it as new). It was fabulous.  Couldn't get by without an awesome sunset of course, courtesy of Friday night at Cristina's! It looks like the back of Robert's head sprouted some chicken feathers, but really it's a tree.  I love sunsets. I love lights. And that is all!

It's gonna be MAY!

(sorry, I had to) May?? Are you sure Father Time? I can't believe that we have already been through the rest of winter and all of spring and now moving into summer, the land of the lake and the home of the sun. Though Mother Nature would beg to differ after she dumped some lovely 40/50 degree weather on us earlier this week. Just keeping us on our toes, I see!  I'm also a little sadsies that our wedding month is officially over. It feels like such a long time ago that we had our wedding, and then there and back again from the Bahamas, but at the same time being 3 weeks post wedding, it's flown by! Sucks how life works sometimes, where it speeds through the greatest of times and goes the slowest through the dull periods (kinda like working during the week and then speeding through the weekends...ahh real world problems). Can't wait to see our wedding photos (6-8 weeks for sneak peaks wahhh) and re-live it all again! At the same time it's a huge relief to n...

Fiesta! Fiesta! Fiesta!

Viva Fiesta! Viva San Antonio! Viva la Alamo! This past weekend we spent a (short) day squeezing in all of our normal Fiesta activities since Robert and I thought last minute that it would just be too weird if we had missed out on our annual Fiesta trip that we've gone on the past 5 years. So we road tripped it out on Friday afternoon (BIG mistake) and finally made the 4 hour journey in about 6 hours-thank you Dallas traffic and thank you 18-wheeler for hanging off the bridge in Hillsboro; I just love being stuck in your traffic for an hour and a half while we watched a thunderstorm rapidly approach going 0mph on the highway. Goodness gracious. But we made it! And Jessica was there, amongst her peeps for the first time ;)  Saturday started out pretty slow. I had all of these expectations for Jessica to see and we get to the Market Square and it's pretty empty. THEN we tried to hit up our annual photo booth spot and they were closed. So we went on a walk and ended up down b...
