Thoughts 2 weeks out

In a couple of short weeks, I will be experiencing one of the greatest days of my life thus far. In some ways I have been beyond ready for this for so long, and I can't believe it's finally here! And in some other ways, I really can't believe that this is my life right now. I mean-wasn't I just starting high school with early morning band and soccer practices and spending most of my weekends traveling to my soccer games or sleeping in until 11am?  I hit a wave of nostalgia a couple weeks ago when I saw that my fave Dashboard Confessional was going back on tour (for the record, I was never an "emo" kid-I merely just loved the style of the acoustics and would seriously play those CDs over and over and over again in my CD player as I was dressed in my American Eagle polo and Hollister jeans) and was overjoyed until I saw that they were playing here over July 4 weekend-which I will be at the lake more than likely. Hmph. That then inspired me to dig up all of

Chamberlain's + Pete's= A Bachen Good Time

I'm really not sure how to even start a post like this. How do you explain a wild night with your closest friends celebrating what will be the biggest day of my life thus far (which is officially in the TEENS as far as countdown goes. 19 to be exact).  It was delicious. It was sweet. It was "you get in for free" (score!). It was "oops we don't have record of your table here." It was "hey we got you a table now!" It was "hey let's take a shot!" It was #getdanidrunk. It was a blast! And I successfully brought said hashtag to truth. And I will take the Sunday morning trade any day for another epic night such as this. I was also successfully (and painfully) reminded of WHY I don't/can't drink like that anymore.  The Olive Garden I had at 6pm on Sunday was my first successful meal of the day, and you bet I ate my little heart out until I could not hold anything anymore.  And now, I give you a timeline:

Bikram Yoga: What the What?

So I had the opportunity to try some Bikram Yoga last night courtesy of Jessica...you know...the yoga that is in a boiling hot room for 90 minutes? If I can play a 90 minute soccer game in the dead heat of the summer (which was done many a time!), then I can do this-right? I'm always up for trying something new, and since I have been doing Piyo classes pretty regularly, I felt like this was a cool next step to try out. Plus, it's something I've always been curious in doing, but just never had someone to do it with or the opportunity to go to. She had asked myself and friend Brittany to try, and we did! So thank you Jess-it was....fun? Intriguing? Crazy? Ha!  I'm not going to lie-I was more worried about doing the actual yoga poses and not looking like an idiot in front of all these pros because 1) I'm not that flexible and 2) I'm still not that flexible. But it wasn't bad! And I felt like I could hold my own! I'm definitely not the best yoga pose p

Recipes to try!

This past week I went out on a limb and tried not one, not two, but THREE pretty easy, fast cooking Pinterest recipes. And they did not disappoint. I've been on a lettuce wrap kick for the past couple of weeks, and have been looking for new ways and fillings to eat them with, and one night I just threw in some buffalo sauce to my browned turkey meat, and so started said lettuce wrap obsession. I then remembered that I had probably pinned a few recipes about this, and I was right. I didn't take any pictures of what mine looked like, but you can find the original recipe here . Instead of using baby potatoes for this recipe, I cooked some of this asparagus   to go with the buffalo lettuce wraps and it was so yummy. Woo hoo!  Their pictures are way nicer than I could have captured on my little baby iPhone 5, so check out the links to see such pretty food artwork!  Meal #1: Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps with Stove Top Steamed Asparagus I left out the chopped celery, be

T-Minus 1 Month till I Do!

Ahh where has the time gone!? It seriously feels like it was just yesterday that I was stressing over HOW to even START planning a wedding, and here we are a month out and it's basically (dare I say) done? Minus a few details of course.  Now I'm just patiently waiting for all of our RSVP's to be returned (really, all you have to do is write your name and check yes or no and lick the envelope-not hard), and pick out wedding songs (eeks!). That's becoming the hardest thing to decide on. How can you pick just one song to identify your love and life commitment to someone, out of ALLLL the songs that are out there. Same for the dad/daughter and mom/son dance. I don't want to be a cliche and do what everyone else does, but it's really hard trying to find something to fit like that.   I have felt mostly calm these past few weeks. I don't feel emotional, just excited. I'm excited to see how everyone is going to look, all done up and pretty (the guys too

Los Hermanos: Couple's Shower

This past weekend Robert and I had our Couple's Shower that was generously hosted by his parents at Los Hermanos. We had most of our family/lake/deer lease friends there, and my parents finally got to meet everyone who I've been getting cray cray with over the past 5-6 years! It truly is overwhelming the amount of support that we have from all of our family and friends, and I'm just lucky that I found a fiancĂ© who has such a great family and tight knit group of friends that welcomed me with open arms.  I think my face is just now getting back to normal-I was almost sore this morning from smiling and laughing so much yesterday, and it really is just a great problem to have! Robert's parents and his sister had such a great set up too-from the bridal dress cake to the bride and groom cake pops (that were so SO delish and I failed to get a pic of, wahhh), which were all homemade. I'm a sucker for the little things and all of these sweet little things are so cute an

The even BETTER Snow Day!

Okay, my last post regarding snow was just a teaser based on what happened to us on Wednesday night. A rainy, cloudy day turned into freezing tornado wind sleet and ice and then the most beautiful blanket of snow I've ever seen!  Seriously-I live in Texas. This stuff just doesn't happen here. And it just did-twice in one week basically!  So I was frantically trying to get to my Insanity class on time at 5:30, and most of the metroplex seemed to forgot how to drive in rain-so I was fashionably late. By the time I got to the gym, I could barely open my car door because of the wind, and then had to sprint in with the rain-turned-hurricane sleet shooting in my face. After that was done, I presumed to take my cold ass home and I snuggled and got warm and secluded myself to the warmest part of the house, not once thinking to look outside and see the monsoon of snow that apparently was coming down. Oh, but did we hear it! Seriously-tornado winds. And then! Then I woke up

The Real World: Adult Edition

As I was driving to work today I couldn't help but feel grateful for the job opportunities that I have had. They allow me to live comfortably and I've met some great people along the way. I also get to see a glorious sunrise every morning driving out of my neighborhood, and drive alongside the sun rising on my way in, and it's always just a moment to sit and appreciate the beauty of the world rising for the day. And then I slam on my brakes to avoid hitting the person in front of me who is going 10 mph less than everyone else on the highway. Welcome to the real world!  I've definitely learned my fair share of lessons after being an "adult" for the last few years. And it's never too late to start habits that turn into successes or just live by some good old fashioned "good to knows" l iiiiike: -Having Good Credit. I was fortunate enough in my first job out of college to see the importance and opportunities that having good credit
