Happy Birthday Rico!

Exactly 4 months ago, on a hot September 3rd morning, I was at the end of my block finishing a quick run before some UNT tailgating when a little doggy sprinted across the street and proceeded to run up behind me. Stopping at the corner, I turned around to greet the little thing and to see what I could do about finding where he came from. No one was outside, he didn't have a collar on, and he was too cute to ignore. As I caught my breath and tried to figure out what to do next, he was perfectly fine with just stretching out next to me and relaxing.                           my first rescue attempt //  th e moment we first met Fortunately, he was small enough where I could hold onto him and go house to house down the entire street to see if anyone had been missing him. Sadly no one seemed to be missing a clearly taken care of puppy who was already house/potty trained and already had a couple of tricks up his sleeve. He wasn't chipped (we went to Petsmart right after)

City Lights, College Football, and an Engagement!!

Whoa! It's been a hot minute. I almost forgot about this thing called blogging? Life just took a hard right turn at Busy and Hectic and hasn't really slowed down! I figured if I'm going to keep up at least once a year or so on this thing, I have to pick and choose what I need to blog about...which is our trip to New York City last weekend for the UNT vs Westpoint football game and important engagement needing to happen...my little sister put a ring on it!! Well, her fiancĂ© (not to be confused with finance) did. And what a beauty it was!  Thursday after a long, uneventful delay on the airplane (thanks rain), we were finally on our way! This time we had a group of friends who had never been, but my in-laws were meeting us there and got to see the magic of this city for the first time. My sister and her then-boyfriend were flying up later on to meet up with us which made me so SO so SO happy!! They almost weren't able to get to go, but everything all worked out in the

Sunday Confessions

Sooooo I meant to post these  Friday   Saturday  Sunday confessions a couple of days ago, but alas life happens. And it's been a chaotic week. Yay for warmer weather (sorta!) and Super Bowl Sunday but here's what I wanted to post on FRIDAY that I'm just getting around to. Blog fail. So I watched Grease Live! this past Sunday (as in a week ago now) and I can't stop thinking about it. And I may have watched it again...all 3 hours...twice. Did anyone else watch it? The original was an integral part of my childhood, and one of the only movies we watched over and over at my grandma's house, so it's one of my all time faves and I may have gotten a wee bit emotional at the end. The feeeeeels.   I was going to attempt to go do some of this "30 days sugar free!" nonsense starting beginning of February. Then I forgot that Valentine's Day was in a couple of weeks. And we have chocolate everywhere. And Girl Scout cookies. And then it was so and so's bi

Engaged, 2 years later

January 25, 2014 Fair Warning: This is a post full of 2 year old memories because two silly little not-so-long-ago years ago (as of yesterday) was our trip to New York City (my 4th time, Robert's first) to visit my sister. Or so I thought. We had made plans the previous fall (Hey let's go to New York he said. Lets see your sister he said) to visit so that way we could experience the city together AND also get to see my sister, since she was at West Point at the time, which is only about an hour's train ride outside of the city. So we made the plans! And surprise! For Christmas, Robert surprised both my sister and I with 10th row tickets to see Luke Bryan at Madison Square Garden, so to say we were beyond excited was an understatement.  Ah New York. It really is THE coolest city, and it's exactly like you see it on TV. It's hard to imagine living a life like that: hustle and bustle every day to work, catching cabs to get places, or most (like us) just walking
